Taxi Service Interruption Expected

The City of Black River Falls has been verbally notified that Mobility Transformation, Inc (MTI), which operates the Black River Falls Public Transit share-ride taxi service, will be ceasing all operations and the company will be completely dissolved in the near future.

City officials will begin discussing options for moving forward at a Special Common Council meeting tomorrow night, November 16, 2022.  The meeting begins at 6:00pm at City Hall located at 101 S. Second Street.

The service is heavily subsidized with state and federal grant funds which requires the city to strictly follow federal procurement processes to select another vendor to carry out the remainder of the contract.  This process typically takes 2-3 months to complete.

Therefore, the city’s shared-ride taxi service is expected to be temporarily shut down and not available beginning on or before January 1, 2023

The city realizes this interruption in taxi service will undoubtedly cause inconveniences for many residents and businesses that rely on this valuable service.
