We Energies is beginning a controlled flaring operation at its natural gas regulator station on West Bauer Road in Black River Falls today (10.17.2025).

While this work takes place, Industrial Park businesses and nearby residents may notice a flame in the air, a loud hissing or blowing noise and a faint burning odor.

The flaring operation is needed to maintain a steady flow of natural gas so WE Energies can complete required pipeline inspections and maintenance.

We Energies will be following safety precautions and will have crews on site throughout this project. In addition, the company is in contact with local first responders and officials to coordinate efforts and maintain safety.

They do not anticipate a disruption to natural gas service for customers

The work is expected to be completed by October 24th.
