Beginning in late January, American Transmission Company (ATC) crews will be using a heavy-lift helicopter to set transmission poles along the project route.  Residents can expect to see a large helicopter delivering pole components and construction materials, flying approximately 200 feet above the ground and setting structures at foundation locations.  Work will be conducted during daylight hours.  The flight schedule may vary due to weather.

If you see a helicopter in your area, please stay at least 500 feet away from the flight path and construction area.  Use of helicopters will decrease construction time and minimize environmental impacts to the area.

This 345-kilovolt transmission line was approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin in April 2015 and will be in service by late 2018.  The 180-mile project runs from the Cardinal Substation in the Town of Middleton to the North Madison Substation in the Town of Vienna, and then to the Briggs Road Substation north of La Crosse.  Construction is being conducted in eight segments.
